Marianne joined GLM in 1998 after having first practised in Johannesburg. She became a Director in 2001 and has been practising as an Attorney for the past sixteen years. Her practice is mainly a High Court practice, consisting of Personal Injury Litigation, Insurance Litigation, Medical Negligence and General Litigation. Her responsibilities include the research and drafting of legal opinions to short term insurance companies and a statutory insurer on procedural and statutory compliance issues, liability, negligence and quantum assessments, determining the litigation strategy, management of the litigation process as well as conducting settlement negotiations with opponents. She has Right of Appearance in the High Court and is mainly charged with attending to high value claims and complicated litigation matters. Marianne has presented two papers on the drafting of medico-legal reports. She is also the Director responsible for recruitment and training of all new Candidate Attorneys. In addition Marianne serves as a member of the firm’s Remuneration Committee which deals with all aspects of remuneration of professional staff.
